Hello friends! Today I’m sharing with you one of my most favourite techniques when it comes to watercolour and that’s the “loose watercolour” technique. I love this one because it can be as messy as you want and it only adds to the look! I’ve used Distress Inks for my version today but you can do it with any water reactive ink as well as watercolour paints. So let’s get into it!
Paper Rose Products used: Lily Bouquet 4 x 6” Stamp, Stitched Rectangle Die Set, Black and White Sentiment Sheets, Paper Rose liquid glue.
Other products used: Watercolour cardstock (hot pressed) panel approx. 15cm x 11cm, stamp positioning tool, Versamark ink, anti-static powder tool, heat tool, WOW! Superfine platinum embossing powder, Distress Inks*, Water spritzer, Flat paint brush (I used a size 8), Round Paint brush (I used a size 1), pot of water, Ivory card base.
Technique: I wiped down my watercolour panel with my anti-static powder tool and then popped it into my stamp positioning tool. Using my Versamark ink I stamped the Lily Bouquet several times, then covered it in the Platinum embossing powder and heat set. I then smooshed my ink pads onto a non-stick mat and gave them a good spray using my water spritzer. I used my flat brush to give everything a light wash of colour not worrying about staying inside the lines (that’s my favourite thing about using this technique!) and set aside to dry for a few minutes. I then came back in with my round brush and started filling in the details more, using more ink and less water this time. I then went to town using the greens to give the background a mottled look before setting aside to dry fully. I then cut the watercolour panel down using the second largest rectangle die and foam mounted it to my card base. I then added the printed get well soon sentiment strip to the upper right.
