Hello crafty friends. I hope you are doing well. As this post goes live, my Christmas card making is about to be seriously interrupted by a school camp! Wish me luck! About now in the blog, I usually tell you about the video I made of the card, but not this time. I have taken footage, and hope to get to editing it soon, but school camp cannot be taken lightly, and I needed to get my Australian camp gear together, which was a bigger undertaking than any of us could have imagined!
Today’s card uses a really sweet stamp called Be Merry from Paper Rose Studio. I stamped the Santa image twice. Once onto my white card stock, and then with the leftover ink onto Post-it Labelling Tape. I bought some 2 inch wide tape, which was expensive to tell the truth, but seven years later, it’s still going strong, and I have used just under half, so I’m not too mad any more! I use it for masking off images, stamping the front image of my design first, then covering it with the Post-it tape before adding background elements.
The Santa image is coloured with Copic markers. I then carefully cut around the masking tape stamped image, just on the right hand side, and laid this over the Santa image. I then laid down the Christmas Tree Builder Stencil and inked over that with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and then Pine Needles ink for the details.
I cut this panel and the some Gold Shimmer Cardstock using the Pierced rectangles dies in the two largest sizes. I used a sentiment from Paper Rose Studio’s Merry Christmas Sentiments in embossed gold, and used the same gold shimmer card to back this.
I love colouring with Copic markers. I think it will always be my first love for Christmas cards, even though it is a little time consuming compared to other media. I hope you’ve enjoyed this card, and that we’ll meet again here soon.
Until next time,
Blessings,
Donna
